QUILLIX™ Line — phytogenic gut control.
Standardized triterpenic saponins. Anticoccidial. Ammonia-reducing.
A phytogenic line built from Quillaja saponaria — natural triterpenic saponins with surfactant and membranolytic action against coccidial protozoa, bacterial pathogens, and the urease activity that drives ammonia emissions. Antibiotic-free, deployed across poultry, swine, ruminants, pets, and aquaculture.
Standardized to 6% triterpenic saponins (HPLC)
Two products — one chemistry, two formats.
QUILLIX™ delivers the concentrated standardized extract; QUILLIX™ MIX adds a Quillaja powder fraction for dual-action gut support — polyphenols and tannins layered on top of the triterpenic saponin core. Choose the format that matches your formulation rate and target outcomes.
QUILLIX™
Highly concentrated, standardized extract of triterpenic saponins. Designed for low-inclusion programs where formulation efficiency matters. Comparable to traditional coccidiostats on lesion scores and oocyst counts.
QUILLIX™ MIX
Proprietary blend of Quillaja extract and Quillaja powder — the saponin core enriched with polyphenols and tannins for synergistic anticoccidial and antibacterial effects. Higher inclusion rate, broader species coverage.
Triple mechanism — membranes, protein, pathogens.
Triterpenic saponins act on three distinct biological targets simultaneously. The cholesterol-binding surfactant action delivers the anticoccidial effect; the urease inhibition delivers the ammonia control; the gut-microbiota balance delivers the productive parameter lift.
Cholesterol-binding cell rupture
Triterpenic saponins complex with cholesterol in protozoal and bacterial cell membranes, causing cell lysis. Active against E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. tenella, Cl. perfringens, C. jejuni, and E. coli.
Inhibits ammonia generation
Direct urease inhibition cuts NH₃ generation from urea breakdown. Saponins also reduce protein deamination and suppress growth of hyper-ammonia-producing bacteria — three independent NH₃ pathways closed at once.
Boosts immune response
Saponins serve as adjuvants in oral and injected vaccines — improving absorption of large molecules and lifting macrophage activity. Demonstrated in vaccine contexts (HIV, FMD, leukemia virus, COVID).
Coccidiosis trial — QUILLIX™ MIX vs reference phytogenic.
A 5-arm in vivo coccidiosis challenge trial at Southern Poultry Research. QUILLIX™ MIX at 100 g/MT was tested head-to-head against Salinomycin (industry-standard ionophore), QUILLIX™ at 30 g/MT, and a reference phytogenic product (Quillaja + Yucca blend). QUILLIX™ MIX outperformed the reference phytogenic on every endpoint.
5-arm coccidiosis challenge · Southern Poultry Research
| Treatment | Description | Dose | vs. NT/I — FCR | vs. NT/I — Weight gain |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NT/Infected | Negative control · infected, no treatment | — | Baseline | Baseline |
| Salinomycin | Ionophore reference standard | 60 g/MT | — | — |
| QUILLIX™ | Quillaja extract (concentrated) | 30 g/MT | — | — |
| Reference phytogenic | Quillaja + Yucca blend | 250 g/MT | −16.58% | +27.07% |
| QUILLIX™ MIX | Extract + powder blend | 100 g/MT | −3.46% better than reference | +12.20% better than reference |
Intestinal endpoints — QUILLIX™ MIX vs reference phytogenic at D21
| Endpoint | Reference phytogenic | QUILLIX™ MIX | Differential |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lesion score · D21 | Reference | −39.26% | Better intestinal integrity |
| Oocyst count · D21 | Reference | −30.84% | Anticoccidial effect stronger |
Interpretation. QUILLIX™ MIX at 100 g/MT delivers tighter FCR, higher weight gain, lower lesion scores, and lower oocyst counts than the reference phytogenic at 250 g/MT — at less than half the inclusion rate. The product also did not present significant differences against traditional ionophore anticoccidials (Salinomycin) on productive parameters, supporting positioning as a phytogenic alternative.

NH₃ reduction — three field studies, two species.
Field studies at three commercial laying hen operations and one swine farm. QUILLIX™ MIX at 100 ppm (poultry) or 150 ppm (swine) cut NH₃ emissions measurably across both production systems and seasons. Reductions are largest in intensive systems where ammonia loading is highest.
NH₃ reduction across three laying hen farms · QUILLIX™ MIX at 100 ppm
80,000 laying hens
100,000 laying hens
40,000 laying hens
Swine NH₃ field trial · QUILLIX™ MIX at 150 ppm
QUILLIX™ MIX reduced NH₃ in intensive pig operations by an average of 26.9% across the 3-month measurement window — significant difference vs control. Focus-group feedback also reported substantial reduction in unwanted aromas. Cost-effective ingredient for reducing both NH₃ (respiratory health driver) and barn odor.
Field trial source: KYNAD commercial measurements at customer farms. Reductions vary by ventilation, stocking density, manure management, and season. Reported figures are averages across the measurement window.
Dosing Matrix — broad species coverage.
QUILLIX™ MIX supports inclusion across the major commercial species. Inclusion rates are tuned to the dietary fat/protein profile and the production stage; KYNAD technical team provides species- and stage-specific recommendations.
QUILLIX™ MIX dosing — by species & stage
| Species & stage | Recommended dose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Poultry — broilers, layers, turkeys | 100–150 g/MT | Per metric ton of compound feed |
| Swine — lactating sows & starter | 150–250 g/MT | Higher inclusion for high-protein diets |
| Swine — growers & finishers | 100–200 g/MT | Mid-cycle inclusion |
| Pets | 150–250 g/MT | Pet food applications |
| Beef cattle | 0.1–1.0 g/day/head | Per-head, per-day basis |
| Dairy — calves | 0.5–1.0 g/MT | Calf-feed inclusion |
| Dairy — heifers & cows | 1.0–2.0 g/day/head | Per-head, per-day basis |
| Shrimp | 500–2,000 g/MT | Aquaculture inclusion |
QUILLIX™ (concentrated extract) dosing — Poultry 30 g/MT; swine variable/diet-dependent. The lower QUILLIX inclusion reflects the higher saponin concentration vs the QUILLIX™ MIX blend.
